HIGH-END ALUMINUM DASH

Goal

Refresh the look of a metal-looking panel.

Challenge

We had to offer a dash concept that would not only replicate, but improve the overall look of the parts our client had been using for a few years. This came as a challenge since the parts were perforated metal. We knew we would not machine metal, so we had to find a way to create the same effect and, if at all possible, to improve the finish as well.

Solution

Knowing that the metal look was important, we decided to opt for aluminum as the main material. Then, to replicate the perforated look, we used our printing capabilities combined with our textured pattern process to mimic holes, thus keeping the original design intent. By doing so, and by applying a protective clear on top, we were able to recreate the initial look while also improving the quality of the finish and of the overall durability of the part.
