BACKLIT DASH PANEL

Goal

Develop a dash that combines a high gloss finish with a bright lighting effect.

Challenge

The main challenge was to develop a lighting system that would provide brightness as well as perfect diffusion. It’s one thing to light up a thin line on a panel, it’s quite another to light up a thick line using an LED that provides the required brightness but also presents hotspot issues.

Solution

Since brightness was our priority but it was impossible to simply install an LED on the back of the panel, we had to develop a customized lighting system to house the LED. To do so, we incorporated the LED in a back panel. We were thus able to provide both brightness and perfect diffusion. By developing a custom solution, BCH Image was able to create a dash panel that met Sea Ray’s esthetics requirements.
