The lead designer at Boston Whaler had a clear vision of the look he wanted for a new line of dash panels. He was looking to recreate a specific finish on a piece of aluminum. The concept had to include dimensional and tactile effects to recreate the rich look he wanted to achieve. Every detail was important as these boards where going to be fixed on high end boats. The main challenge was on the production end. Not only did we have to recreate the exact look the designer was looking for, but we also had to include tactile effect on targeted areas.
Our team had to adapt its process to make sure we could overcome the challenge we faced with this specific concept. First, we had to polish targeted areas to make it shine and to create a mirror effect. Then, we had to use our unique textured pattern process to add depth, but also to create the two-tone color that matched the initial concept. Finally, despite the fact that we had to combine multiple processes, BCH Image was able to recreate the concept, as envisioned by Boston Whaler’s designer, thanks to the production team’s flexibility and innovative processes.
